FORUM A

Art & Design

Always one of the most popular forums at CARBON, this topic is left deliberately ambiguous in order to allow speakers to be as specific, or as broad, as they choose in talking about their creative output. Drawing from a mix of street, contemporary and commercial artistic fields, the Art & Design forum is a modern representation of the possibilities that exist to visual creators from paint on concrete to the digital landscape and everything in between.

Building a Brand

For many in our audience, the idea of someday owning a successful brand is a shared aspiration. This forum brings together individuals who have either successfully launched their own brand or significantly contributed to the growth and development of a brand. With an emphasis on realising a creative idea within the commercial landscape, this forum is as much for the aspiring brand owner as it is for anyone working towards a creative career or goal.

D.I.Y.

The D.I.Y. forum explores the art of being your own boss and navigating the self-made minefield that lies between you and success. Speakers on this forum have forged successful careers in media, promotions, music, advertising, film, as well as other creative ventures within the realms of style, design and culture. And while the speakers’ backgrounds differ, all individuals have achieved success through operating outside of pre-existing business structures – be it as their own brand or product, or through turning their passion and expertise into a commodity.

Film & Photography

This forum engages CARBON audiences year after year, due largely to the evolving mediums of photography and film and their increasing presence in day-to-day communication and entertainment. The Film & Photography forum features insights from pioneering individuals whose career longevity is testament to their relevance. This, along with the new guard of millennial men and women, leading the charge for this generation of creators within the medium. This year’s lineup is representative of the edgier, more controversial end of the film and photography spectrum, which should make for compelling presentations.
